MEWP INFORMATION

The selection, management and use of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs).

We hope that you will find all the Mobile Elevating Work Platform information you will need from our website pages. If you follow the navigation links below you’ll find some very useful MEWP information. Should there be something that you need further information about please use our Contact Us page and we will do our best to get back and answer any questions you may have.

When dealing with aspects of safety it is important that information, specifically guidance, is only sourced from UK regulatory, authoritive and respected sources. MEWPSAFETY UK aims to provide our site visitors with direct links to many of those trusted sources. We do not create ‘Guidance’ ourselves but provide visitors with helpful resources to promote far greater awareness.

Introduction

The following information* is aimed at all those who select, specify, manage and operate mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs). It tells you what you should consider before selecting a MEWP to gain access to work at height and the risks that need to be assessed and managed while the MEWP is in use. All types of MEWPs are covered by HSE guidance GEIS6 including ones that are:

■   Vertical ‘scissor’ lift
■   Self-propelled boom
■   Vehicle-mounted boom
■   Trailer-mounted boom

HSE produced GEIS6 in consultation with the Strategic Forum for Plant Safety – MEWP Safety Group.
